Mike KC9HHT is to be the contact person for the Science Club at Glenn
Raymond school and head of the group to provide radio demo for the school
kids. Justin KC9GNH is to contact National Weather Service to see if they
will send down a ham weather guy for demo of Skywarn and weather training.
Time frame is end of March 2006. Several club members will help with the
demo. Need to put up hf antennas and VHF UHF also. Sort of a mini field
day.

Steve K9TA reports that the backup power battery is working fine on the 2
meter machine.

Benny KC9GWD is still working on the Cingular 440 perch and thinks we have a
good chance of getting the lease in the near future.

We decided that we would like to see if we can get a team of volunteer ham
radio examiners for our club. Steve, Mike and Sam will try to assist Carl
with the exams once we get the paperwork and permission to begin testing.

Sam W9QKF reports that the elevator has the manlift working again. Sam is
to contact the manager Terry and see if we can take down the old 03 machine
and cavities and tune up and repair the old repeater. Good for backup.

Discussion was held on the possibility of the cub scout demo in the middle
of Oct. If the cub scout leaders call again Tim KC9FON has offered his ham
shack as the place for the demo. Mike and Sam will assist Tim with the
group.

Benny reported on a possible project of obtaining a ready made emcomm
trailer donation to provide solar and battery power for portable repeater
and emcomm shack. This project is just in the early phase so it will take
some hard work and good luck to get this one done. Lots of ideas here but
will take time.

We took an informal poll and most of hams at the meeting have battery packs
and generators for emcomm use.

Some talk about the need for a packet system as part of our emergency
preparedness.

Sam and Roy KA9MZJ presented a mini lesson on the National Traffic system
and radiograms.

Red Cross emcomm members filled out paper work for Red Cross files.

Tim provided the pop, ice, cups and two fine packages of cookies for all our
enjoyment. I think everyone had a good time and learned a few new items.
