There was a very lively discussion about what might be done to improve HT coverage in Watseka on the 2 meter repeater. It has some problems at this time. Jerry, Benny, and Tim looked at it and thought that the duplexer had gone out of tune. Benny and Sam will try to fix it soon.

Benny plans to go to meeting on Friday to check on progress of paper work for 440 antenna location and look for coax and enclosure for repeater. We think that the paper work is very important when dealing with a very large company.

The members present discussed the idea of RACES or ARES and it seemed to be that we are somewhat ready to act but do not want to fill out lots of paper work to be an official ARES group.

At the end of March several members of ICARC were able to attend a Weather Spotting meeting sponsored by ESDA and Mutual Aid Fire. We learned a great deal about bad weather and tornadoes. Our action plan is for anyone of the members can call a bad weather net and one of us act as net control. We collect info on hard hail, high wind, flash flooding, wall clouds, funnel clouds and of course rotations and tornadoes. The NWS will plan to use only 4 ham radio repeaters this year (last year tried to use 19). KKK is going to try and be one of the 4. Pass our info to them or the 911 center or NWS at 800-681-2972.

A web site that all should look at and sign up if you wish to get email on computer or cell phone about bad weather. The site is www.emergencymail.org

A site that any one who wants to read about the controller in our repeater is
www.nhrc.com look for a pdf of a nhrc model “nhrc-3/m2+” you can download and printout the entire manual.

A discussion of a possible field day plan—to be discussed at the next meeting.
