December 17, 04 by Iroquois County Amateur Radio ClubIroquois County Amateur Radio Meeting Dec 1, 2004
The meeting was called to order by Sec-Tres at 7:00 pm. The meeting was
held at the Red Cross office in Watseka.
Old Business
Sam read the minutes of the Nov 3 meeting and members present agreed they
were correct.
Dues were collected from 1 member and Iroquois Counties newest ham Benny
Marcier KC9GWD.
Carl, Jerry and Sam and Bill have the site for the GMRS repeater going and
we are testing the range to see if it will be worth drilling hole in
building to install the hardline that Steve donated. That work is now done.
A new Polyphaser lighting device has been donated and installed by Jerry
and Bill in a waterproof box donated by Sam.
There was a lot of discussion of the new 2-meter repeater site—almost all
good news. We seem to cover an area of north of Urbana to route 17 in KKK,
east toward Remington and west to Fairbury. We still have some trouble with
HT’s in Watseka.
Tim had discussed the idea of replacing the messages of the tale timers on
the repeater. We have replaced the voice with CW ids.
We tested the 47.42 repeater and it still will not quiet—Jerry had to turn
off the repeater.
Joan Goodwine of the Red Cross reported the Illinois Dept of Public Health
would like a ham radio in the hospital.
Sam brought in the refreshment of cookies and pop and a few stayed until
almost 9:00pm.
